convenient as possible. We usually follow three-step design process.
Schematic Preliminary Design
The very first step in the design process is to gather and analyze information necessary prior to actually designing your home. This phase includes initial meetings during which the client specifies his requirements and any special demands. Then a detailed “program” is formulated. It defines client’s needs and objectives: function, size, relationship between spaces, character and image. We also study the building site extensively to determine the best orientation, access, and efficient servicing for the house. After all this, first preliminary drawings are faxed or emailed to you to get your feedback and comments. Or, if you can visit us in our office, you receive the preliminary set printed.
Design Development
After getting client’s first comments, we continue to go back to the design to come up with a deeper reworked and redeveloped scheme. If requested by the client, we prepare additional minor or major modifications to the design until the client is fully satisfied. During this phase the communication between the client and the designer is essential. Different means of communication are available to you- fax, email or meeting in person and consulting in our office.
Construction Documentation
At this point, after you’ve given final approval of the preliminary design, we begin to prepare the construction documents. For a simple design, this generaly consists of 4 -5 pages of working drawings. This number may, however, vary depending on the complexity of the design. Our drawing package will be sufficient to obtain building permits, accurate cost estimates, and to guide the course of construction. We can also provide permit processing for our clients. This service is location limited.
Final drawings generally take several weeks for completion, however, sometimes it could be longer
depending on the complexity of the house design and the number of plans we are working on at the
time. In any case, we always take the time to egive oure clients the personal attention they deserve
to design the perfect custom-house to meet their needs.
